How do I create an Airpaw account?
Creating an account is easy:
- Download Airpaw from the App Store or Google Play
- Open the app and tap "Create Account"
- Enter your email address
- Check your email for a magic link and tap it to verify
- Complete your profile with your name and optional photo
That's it! You're ready to start getting recommendations.
How do I find my friends on Airpaw?
You can find friends in several ways:
- Sync Contacts: Allow Airpaw to access your contacts to find friends who are already using the app
- Search by Username: If you know their Airpaw username, search for them directly
- Share Your Profile: Share your profile link with friends so they can connect with you
Your contact data is processed securely and never shared with third parties.
Is Airpaw free to use?
Yes! Airpaw is completely free to download and use. There are no subscription fees or hidden charges. All core features including asking for recommendations, answering questions, and connecting with friends are available for free.

How do I change my password?
To change your password:
- Go to Settings in the app
- Tap "Password"
- Enter your current password
- Enter and confirm your new password
- Tap "Save" to update your password
How do I enable two-factor authentication (2FA)?
Two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security:
- Go to Settings → Security → Two-Factor Authentication
- Tap "Enable 2FA"
- Scan the QR code with an authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy, etc.)
- Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app
- Save your backup codes in a secure location
Important: Keep your backup codes safe. You'll need them if you lose access to your authenticator app.
How do I delete my account?
We're sorry to see you go. To delete your account:
- Go to Settings
- Scroll down and tap "Delete Account"
- Confirm your decision
Note: Account deletion is permanent. All your data, including recommendations and connections, will be permanently removed and cannot be recovered.
How do I change my email address?
To update your email:
- Go to Settings → Email
- Enter your new email address
- Check your new email for a verification link
- Click the link to confirm the change
Recommendations
How do I ask for a recommendation?
Asking for a recommendation is simple:
- Tap the "+" button or "Ask" on the home screen
- Type your question (e.g., "Who's a good plumber in downtown?")
- Choose who can see your request (all contacts or specific people)
- Tap "Send"
Your contacts will be notified and can share their recommendations with you.
How do I respond to a friend's question?
When a friend asks for a recommendation:
- Go to "Questions from Friends" tab
- Find the question you want to answer
- Tap on it to open the response form
- Write your recommendation and include contact details if relevant
- Tap "Send" to share your answer
Can I edit or delete my recommendation request?
Yes, you can manage your requests:
- Edit: Tap on your request and select "Edit" to modify the question
- Delete: Tap on your request and select "Delete" to remove it
- Mark as Solved: When you've found what you need, mark the request as solved
Note: Deleting a request will also remove all associated responses.
Who can see my recommendations?
You control who sees your requests:
- All Contacts: Everyone in your network can see and respond
- Custom: Choose specific contacts who can see your request
Your responses to others' questions are only visible to the person who asked and other responders on that question.
Privacy & Security
How is my data protected?
We take your security seriously:
- All data is encrypted in transit using TLS/SSL
- Authentication tokens are stored securely in your device's keychain/keystore
- We offer two-factor authentication for additional account protection
- Regular security audits ensure our systems are protected

How do I block someone?
To block a user:
- Go to their profile
- Tap the menu (three dots) in the top right
- Select "Block User"
- Confirm your choice
Blocked users cannot see your profile, send you requests, or view your recommendations.
What happens to my contacts when I sync them?
When you sync contacts:
- We only use contact data to find friends on Airpaw
- Contact information is processed securely and encrypted
- We never share your contacts with third parties
- We don't use contacts for marketing or advertising
- You can disconnect contact sync at any time in Settings
I lost my 2FA device. How do I access my account?
If you've lost access to your authenticator app:
- Use one of your backup codes (you received these when setting up 2FA)
- Each backup code can only be used once
If you don't have backup codes, contact our support team at support@airpaw.0iop.be with your account email. We'll verify your identity and help you regain access.
